It's gonna be a hungry 6 weeks...

Yesterday my poor husband came home from one of the many doctors he's been seeing for his back with this list of things he is not allowed to eat for the next six weeks: Cows milk, butter, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, sour cream, ice cream, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, mayonnaise, vegetable oils, white rice, white flour, refined and sugar-coated cereals, coconut, chocolate, sugar, salt, decaf coffee, cola...! It is called an "anti-inflamatory diet" and I sure hope it works. He started decompression therapy yesterday and has to eat like this for the duration of treatment. Ugh. Poor guy. Although after nearly 3 months of this pain, he'd try nearly anything.

So, what can he eat? Three stores and two hours later...It is an embarrassingly messy fridge, but at least we have food. Can you tell which shelf is his? Now I just have to learn to cook all over again, and make bland things taste good. Any suggestions? Next post maybe I'll give you a recipe to try!! It is a good thing I love him so much.

Sounds like what I need! You should give me some of those recipes and I'll try them out for my stomach- I've been told to eat bland and anti-inflammatory too. I feel Dave's pain- tell him he's not alone in the suffering, mine's just in a different way!

I'll miss you guys this weekend! Originally I thought it was just Brian and Pops and I wanted to give them a guys weekend alone... plus I can't take work off Friday and Brian wants to leave then. I would maybe still go but now I have other plans that I would feel bad backing out of!! So Brian and I will have to make another trip down there soon- I won't wait til the reunion to see you guys!

Poor Dave!! That is awful! Hopefully this will work!! If anyone can pull off a miracle here, it's you. :)

Oh my gosh, what are you going to do? He's lucky that YOU are the woman caring for him. I would take that list and start crossing off the ones that I couldn't cut from my kitchen. You're good. Is he going to a "Voodoo Doctor" (alt. medicine?)? Merica is, after dealing with her health problems for a year and a half, she's willing to try anything, too. Anyway, it sounds like the program they have her on.
I hope it works!

I hope Bishop gets better soon. You know, those groceries don't look too bad. I used to buy the same stuff from Trader Joe's ( recorgnize them); we've been slacking at eating healthy. And honestly, in your hand and kitchen, anything will taste good.

WHOA. Seriously? I sure hope it helps!! Yes, Yes, it WILL work! Positive thinking...
You can make anything taste good Dayna. You're sure to get a cookbook out of the anti-inflammatory way of eating.
